Home/Services/Structural Repairs & Emergency Restoration
Water, fire, and storm damage repaired by a licensed general contractor with 40+ years on the job.
A burst pipe behind a wall, a tree limb through the roof, smoke and fire damage that reaches the wiring. Damage like this rarely stops at what you can see. Specialty Improvements Unlimited is a structural repair contractor in Sonoma County, and owner Eric Wilson has spent more than 40 years opening up damaged walls, floors, and roofs to find out how far the problem really goes.
Then we rebuild it properly. That means framing, subfloors, siding, drywall, electrical, and finishes, all handled by one licensed contractor instead of five different trades who never talk to each other. Eric personally oversees the work, so the person who looks at your damage is the same person accountable for the repair.
Some of these jobs start with an emergency. Others start with a soft spot in the floor that's been getting worse for years. Either way, we assess first and repair second.
Structural Damage Repair
Sagging floors, cracked or rotted framing, damaged beams and joists. We find what's carrying the load, fix it, and make sure it meets current code.
Water Damage Repair
Leaking supply lines, failed showers, refrigerator lines that drip for months before anyone notices. Once the area is dry, we replace damaged framing, subfloor, drywall, door frames, and trim so you can't tell it happened.
Fire Damage Repair
Fire damage reaches into framing, wiring, and finishes. We've handled full fire-damage rebuilds, including complete electrical rewires from a new 200-amp panel through to final fixtures and PG&E coordination.
Storm and Tree Damage Repair
Fallen branches and wind damage can crack rafters and open the roof to rain. We repair the roof structure, ceiling, and interior damage below it.
Framing and Foundation-Related Repairs
Repairs to sill plates, posts, and framing where the house meets the foundation.
Interior and Exterior Restoration
After the structural work, we finish the job: siding, windows, doors, paint, flooring, and tile.
Every repair project begins with understanding the full extent of the damage. Our team carefully evaluates structural concerns, develops the right restoration approach, and delivers skilled repairs that help bring your home back to a safe and dependable condition.
With decades of remodeling and construction experience, Specialty Improvements Unlimited combines expert craftsmanship with a commitment to quality. Whether your home has experienced unexpected damage or requires structural improvements, we provide solutions designed to protect your investment for years to come.

Burst pipe, guest bathroom
A pipe broke behind a toilet and damaged the walls, flooring, pocket door, and paint. Brad and Barbara Stevens said the crew restored everything faster than they expected.
Hidden refrigerator leak, two floors
A leaking fridge line on the top floor sent water down into the floor below. The repair covered two door frames, the walls, and the ceiling. The homeowner said it looked new again with no detectable damage.
Tree branch through the roof
A large branch fell onto the roof. "Timely, professional, and got the job done," wrote Timothy Harrington.
Full fire-damage rewire
For Don Cowden Construction, SIU rewired a fire-damaged home from the service panel to the address light, on time and on budget.
Structural repairs only last as long as the materials behind them. We use Simpson Strong-Tie connectors, James Hardie and LP SmartSide siding, Milgard windows, and other products built to hold up in Sonoma County's wet winters and dry, fire-prone summers.
We're based locally and know how homes here age, from salt air in Bodega Bay to winter flooding along the Russian River to wildfire risk in the hills. We handle structural and damage repairs in:
Watch for sloping or soft floors, sticking doors, spreading wall cracks, and water stains. If you've had a leak, fire, or storm, get it inspected even if the damage looks small. Moisture and heat often affect framing you can't see.
